Coffee Jelly: A Surprising Japanese Invention for Coffee Lovers☕🍦

Today, I went to Caffe Veloce and had some Coffee Jelly!

I was surprised to find out that turning coffee into jelly isn't very common outside of Japan.

In Japan, it’s so popular that you can buy it at any convenience store just as easily as pudding.
Interestingly, it's said that Japan was the first country to serve coffee jelly as a dessert, back during the Taisho and Showa eras (the early to mid-20th century).

As you can see in the photo, this one is topped with a generous amount of soft-serve ice cream!

With the weather getting warmer, the combination of cold jelly and soft-serve is perfect. The balance between the sweetness of the ice cream and the bitterness of the coffee is just exquisite.
